Sklover’s Thought for the Week

Posted By Alan Sklover On April 20, 2009 @ 1:00 am In Thought for the Week | No Comments

“A new broom sweeps clean, but an old broom knows all the corners.”

- Irish Proverb

There is no substitute for experience, and the knowledge and understanding that a person gets just by “being around” for a long time. On a new job, in a new department, in a new community or country, it takes a long time to know “who’s who, and what’s what.” Newcomers may be very smart, but “old timers” have a powerful advantage. Bear that in mind. In a new situation, try to keep your mouth shut, your eyes wide open, and your mind at attention.
