Sklover’s Thought for the Work Week

Posted By Alan L Sklover On 04/23/12 @ 1:00 am In Thought for the Week | No Comments

“Tell me a fact, and I will learn. Tell me a truth, and I will believe. Tell me a story, and it will live in my heart forever.”

- Native American Proverb

At work, those who communicate well will always have a distinct advantage. The ability to transfer a thought, feeling or idea from your mind into the mind of another is rare, precious and special. Pictures are the best way to do that; and stories are just a series of pictures. How well you speak or write is not the issue. What language you use is not the question. And the number of people who hear you is not important. It is the transfer of a “picture,” thought, feeling or idea from one mind into the heart and mind of another person – with clarity and certainty – that we are talking about. Take the time, devote the effort, and do your best to convey pictures, thoughts, feelings, and ideas. Once truly transferred, they will live in that other person forever.
