Sklover’s Thought for the Work Week

“Always make new mistakes.”
- Esther Tyson
There are two big messages in these four little words. First, if you’ve already made a mistake, for Heaven’s sake, try not to make it again. Second – and this is the message I really like – don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Sure, it is embarrassing. And, yes, I know, it isn’t good for the ego, or relations with the boss. But don’t fear making mistakes to the point of being afraid to try new things, in new ways, with new people, to get new results. At work, the fear of mistakes is a sure sign of someone who is so fearful of losing his or her job, that sooner or later, he or she will do just that. Always make new mistakes.
