[ To Read a Short Intro – Click ] This section introduces you to a very common need: to resign from your job with care, dignity and clarity. That’s not as easy as many might think. Resignation from a job is a time to “wind down” all of the obligations, responsibilities, and duties that are part of the employment relation. As just a few examples, you’ve got to make sure you: (a) don’t forget to collect monies and reimbursements that are owed to you; (b) don’t unnecessarily lose out on upcoming dates of vesting, payment and accrual; and (c) don’t fall afoul of any promises you’ve made about minimum notice, post-employment restrictions, and professional obligations to complete client work. Resignation from a job is also a time to make sure you don’t do any damage to valuable relations that might be of great advantage to you in the future, including relations with, among others, (a) clients, (b) customers, (c) colleagues, (d) mentors, (e) vendors, and (f) regulators. Burning bridges, or ignoring potential bridges to your best future, is just not smart. This section helps you think of everything you need to think about when resigning from a job, and helps you do it in a careful, mindful way. “Involuntary Resignation” a concept we have invented, is a powerful way to “Give Up Your Job Without Giving Up Your Rights and Claims.” It is introduced in the next section of this Resource Center. Don't hesitate to take advantage of the many videos, articles, and Model Letters you may access in this section, and all of the other educational, inspirational and empowering features our blogsite has to offer.
