“Hate. Throughout history, it’s caused a lot of problems in the world. But it hasn’t solved a single one yet.”
– Maya Angelou
Hatred. Where does it come from? So very much of hatred comes from ignorance, fear of “others,” anger over perceived bad treatment. The oddest thing is that, even where there has been unfair treatment, holding hatred within you, and periodically spitting it out, is more self-destructive to the hater than is the original unfairness or treatment. That is, hatred within the heart only hurts the hater. It wastes precious time and misdirects valuable energy, and only prevents the hater from pursuing his or her success at work, health and family. Without a doubt, it is always best to reject hatred, and those who espouse hatred, and instead practice and pursue ideas and people who see, share and live “the good and the light” in life. And that goes doubly at work.
This quote was transmitted just yesterday by Armando R, of Laredo, Texas, who asked us to mention that his Gateway Church has chosen to dedicate special efforts this holiday season to reducing hatred of all kinds. I just love that.
