“At the gates of patience, there is no crowding.”

It is an almost universally accepted notion that patience is a virtue. Some even say it is the greatest of all virtues. Patience signifies a degree of self-control, inner strength and healthy distance from the sometimes overwhelming urgencies of the day. It is a wonderful quality to have, so valuable an attribute that it can – in itself – be an effective strategy, a winning tactic, even a complete game plan when dealing with others. Perhaps the greatest value of patience, though, is not in your relations with others, but rather in your offering it up as a gift to yourself. Few understand that more or faster does not equate with best for you. If what you seek is true, long-term and meaningful success, give yourself the time that such success will undoubtedly require. Few understand this truth or appreciate its value. Be one who does.
This quote was sent to us by Martin of Sandoval, Illinois, according to Martin a “small town where you have little choice but to be patient.” Thanks to Martin who sent this proverb to us months ago, and whose patience in waiting for us to post it was and is appreciated.
