Strong, clear, sincerely-held beliefs – in your purpose, your abilities, the correctness of your goals – form the platform for your success. The clarity of your beliefs determines the inner strength, flexibility and balance you can depend upon to get you over the obstacles and past the challenges you will surely face, both on a daily basis and throughout your lifetime. It comprises the firmness of the earth beneath your feet, most especially during stormy weather, personal earthquakes, and difficult detours. In fact, it is in the most challenging times of our lives that we come to truly understand how valuable is the strength of our beliefs. It really is true: “To be an over-achiever you have to be an over-believer.”

I recently came upon this quote when presenting at a meeting about Successful Executive Coaching. I presumed its author was a religious leader; I came to learn he is a successful football coach.
