We are all – every single one of us – imperfect souls. Whether in our personal, family or work lives, and regardless of intentions, we will inevitably disappoint or hurt others, and be disappointed and hurt by them. All relations, too, are imperfect, and surely will entail some degree of disappointment. However, that should never stop you from leaving a toxic work relation and seeking and entering into a new and better one. As it is with any kind of relation, so much of the quality of work relations are determined by (i) what you expect from it, (ii) what you bring to it, and (iii) how you participate in it. In the event you encounter unfairness, indignity, bullying or harassment of any kind, and good faith efforts to improve the relation do not work, know that you surely deserve better, and “better” is out there just waiting for you.

I came upon this thoughtful quote in a recent reading about the life of Bob Marley, the late, legendary Reggae musician, whose melodies and messages bring a very significant inspiration to my life. The spirit within his “One Love” and “Could You Be Loved” can be found within each blog post I write and send to others around the world.
