People who wonder if the glass is half empty or half full miss the point: The glass is refillable.”

Glass half empty? Glass half full? Those are short-hand ways of describing perspectives, attitudes and expectations that different people seem to have about life in general. Lately, it’s been a bit tougher than usual to maintain the “half full” perspective. Whether it’s incivility by others, anxiety of your own, or the negativity of “the daily news,” it’s easy to lose faith in a better and brighter future.

This quote, though, shakes up the commonplace “half-full – half-empty” idea, because it reminds us of two important things we each need to bear in mind:

First, that there are up’s and down’s in each day, in each week, in each relation, and in each lifetime.

Second, that whether or not your glass today seems to you half-full or half-empty, it is always possible to “refill” your glass, so long as you are willing to devote effort, persistence and faith to doing so.

Give the notion of “refill-ability” a thought, and give it a chance. Not every day is going to be sunny, but enough days will be. So much is up to you.
