With the blessing of life there comes not just joy, but also sorrow, grief and pain. Sure, we all try to keep ourselves “above water,” but sometimes we just can’t do that. Or get to sleep at night, or out of bed in the morning. Not just you, but all of us. Sometimes, we can’t brush our teeth, shave or shower. Sometimes we feel overwhelmed. All of us. These are such times, and those feelings are – in this circumstance – acceptable. If you are “not OK” right now, try to accept, for right now, that feeling “not okay” is okay. If you need assistance doing that, ask for help without delay. Forgive yourself for not being strong enough to cope right now. Yes, in this time of adversity and pain, it’s OK to not feel OK. It really is.
I heard Mr. Stelter express this sentiment on a Sunday morning talk show. It moved me in its simplicity, its sensitivity and its universality. Thank you, Brian.
