Sklover’s Thoughts for the Work Week

“The little things? The little moments? They aren’t little.”

– Jon Kabat-Zinn

That is such a “large” and important point: so many “little things” and “little moments” are far from “little.” Now that my yoga studio of many years has closed, I am attending yoga classes online. I so much miss the friendly “hiya’s” and smiles and hugs of those that I saw weekly at the yoga studio. They didn’t seem like “big things” then, but I miss them “bigly” now. Yoga classes over Zoom work, too, but I sorely miss those “little things.”

So, too, are so-called “little things” felt later as “big things” when friends, loved ones and colleagues, move away, get a new job, pass on or otherwise leave our lives, often without warning or fanfare, for so many different reasons.

Observe those many “little things” and people in your life that will likely seem so “large” when they are gone. Savor them, appreciate them, and enjoy them, now that they are still “here.”
